"To commemorate the occasion of 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Government of India globalised the Gujarati song, “Vaishnav Jan Toh” penned by Narsi Mehta in 15th Century. This song was adopted by Mahatma Gandhi into the roster of prayers routinely sung before his meetings. Embassy of India in Jordan had the pleasure of enlisting the support of one of Jordan’s top Directors, Ms. Sandra E Kawar for directing a music video of this immensely popular Bhajan, sung by Ms. Hind Hamed, a very renowned artiste from Jordan. The music of this song was re-composed by Mr. Kassim Sabounchi from X-10-Tion Studios, Amman where it was recorded also.

The song was released at a solemn ceremony to mark the inauguration of the 150th Birth Anniversary celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi at the University of Jordan on 02 October 2018 in the gracious presence of HRH Princess Rym Al-Ali, Ambassador Smt. Shubhdarshini Tripathi, H.E. Prof. Dr. Abdel-Karim Al-Qudah, Hon’ble President of the University of Jordan, Executive Committe Members of the Jordan India Friendship Society and other distinguished guests and audience from Jordan.
