ICCR Scholarships 2019-20 Indian Council of Cultural Relations AYUSH Scholarship Scheme 2019-20 for Non-BIMSTEC Nationals

Government of India through Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) offers scholarships to foreign nationals to pursue various Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy (AYUSH) courses in India. Acceptance of AYUSH at Internatioanl level has resulted in growing demand from foreign students to study in Indian Instituitions. The Ministry of AYUSH under its ‘International Fellowship Programme’ extends financial support to the eligible foreign nationals for undertaking AYUSH degree courses in premier Institutes in India.

COURSES AND ELIGIBILITY

Under Graduate courses

  • Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS): 5 year degree course including one year mandatory clinical training (internship)
  • Eligibility: 12 years of schooling with science subjects (Physics, Chemistry & Biology)
  • Bachelor of Siddha Medicine and Surgery (BSMS): 5 year degree course including one year mandatory clinical training (internship)
  • Eligibility: 12 years of schooling with science subjects (Physics, Chemistry & Biology)
  • Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (BUMS): 5 year degree course including one year mandatory clinical training (internship)
  • Eligibility: 12 years of schooling with science subjects (Physics, Chemistry & Biology)
  • Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicines and Surgery (BAMS): 5 year degree course including one year mandatory clinical training (internship)
  • Eligibility: 12 years of schooling with science subjects (Physics, Chemistry & Biology)
  • B.Sc in Yoga : 3 year course
  • Eligibility: 12 years of schooling
  • B.A. (Yoga Shastra) : 3 years course
  • Eligibility: 12 years of schooling

Post Graduate Courses

  • M.D. Ayurveda : 3 year course
  • Eligibility: BAMS degree recognized by Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM)
  • MD Siddha: 3 year course
  • Eligibility: BSMS degree recognized by Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM)
  • MD Unani: 3 year course E
  • Eligibility: BUMS degree recognized by Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM)
  • (It may be noted that amongst foreign universities degrees of Sri Lankan Universities i.e. BAMS and BUMS from Institute of Indigenous medicine, University, of Colombo, Sri Lanka and BSMS from University of Jaffna, Sri Lanka are recognized by CCIM)
  • MD Homoeopathy: 3 year course
  • Eligibility: BHMS degree recognized by Central council of Homoeopathy (CCH)
  • Ph.D. Courses
  • Ph.D in Ayurveda: 3 years course
  • Eligibility: MD (Ayurveda) degree recognized by CCIM

Procedure for application

ICCR sends the offer letter for scholarships to Indian Missions abroad. Offer of scholarships are advertised by the Indian Missions in countries where the scholarships are offered. Interested students are required to fill online application available on A2A portal at the Indian Missions. Applications should be properly filled up and submitted with complete set of supporting documents. Certified copies of all documents should be accompanied with English translations. The syllabus of the qualifying examination should be enclosed with the application.

Selection procedure

Applications from the desirous foreign nationals received by the concerned Diplomatic Missions are scrutinized and forwarded by them to ICCR for selection and placement. ICCR, however, does not consider applications which are received directly from the candidates. ICCR in-turn forwards the application to the Universities/ educational institutions who have their own eligibility criteria. A scholarship is awarded only when the admission is confirmed by ICCR after receiving confirmation from the concerned institute/university. Thereafter, appropriate visas are issued by the Missions

Guidelines for AYUSH Scholarship Scheme

  • No application will be accepted after last date of application.
  • The application will be processed only for the course applied for. No request for the change in course will be entertained later.
  • The candidate has to fill 03 choices of Universities in the application in order of preference.
  • The allocation of University will be on first come first serve basis subject to availability of seat.
  • lf no seats are available in the choice of University given by the candidate, the allocation of University will be done by the Ministry of AYUSH in other University as per the availability of the seats.
  • The Medium of teaching will be English and/or Hindi
  • Equivalence certificate for the foreign candidates is obtained by the Ministry of AYUSH/ICCR from Association of Indian Universities. There will be no reimbursement of the Equivalence fee paid by the scholars to Association of Indian Universities.
  • Candidate has to confirm deny the offer of admission within 15 days of receiving the offer.
  • No request for transfer of University will be entertained once the admission is confirmed.
  • No request for transfer of University in the middle of session or at any stage in the middle of course will be entertained.
  • There is no provision for Health/Medical insurance for the AYUSH scholars
  • Economy class Airfare by shortest route will be provided to the scholars once at the time of admission and once after completion of the course.
  • The air tickets for to & fro journey to the scholar will be provided by ICCR / booked by the scholar as per the Govt. of India norms with prior intimation to ICCR.
  • No reimbursement of cost of air tickets / booking charges of the air tickets will be made to the scholars if the tickets are not booked as per the Department of Expenditure guidelines. Booking of Air tickets is to be done in strict compliance with the Department of ExpenditureOM No. 19024/22/2017- E.IV dated 19.07.2017 on the subject- ”Guidelines on Air Travel on Official Tours — Purchase of air ticket from authorized agent” (copy annexed) and the subsequent guide1ines/ instructions issued by the Government of India/ Department of Expenditure from time to time.
  • No reimbursement of booking charges of the air tickets will be made to the scholars.
  • Reimbursement of House rent Allowance (HRA), other allowances etc. will be settled in the ongoing financial year (on producing authentic bills/receipts/supporting documents). Request for reimbursement of allowance for previous financial year/ years will not be entertained.
  • No allowance/fee other than mentioned in the terms and conditions above will be provided/reimbursed.
  • Any matter not covered above will be referred to Ministry of AYUSH whose decision will be final.

    MEDICAL ALLOWANCE

    There is no provision for Health/Medical Insurance for the AYUSH Scholars.
